Mark is Managing Partner - Clients and Senior Investment Funds Partner at Walkers. He has in excess of 28 years post qualification experience, the last 16 years of which have been with Walkers in the Cayman Islands, specialising in all aspects of mainstream corporate work, particularly hedge funds.

Prior Employment Experience

Mark completed his articles and initial training with Freehill, Hollingdale & Page, one of the major law firms in Australia, and was admitted to practise there as a barrister and solicitor in December 1982. Mark gained extensive international experience working in the Banking, Corporate Finance and Entertainment Law Department at Denton Hall in London and Japan. He subsequently moved to Theodore Goddard where he worked on international asset finance and capital markets transactions in Russia, Poland and Hungary.

Boards and Associations

Mark is a member of the founding board of directors of the Cayman Islands branch of Hedge Funds Care. He was elected as the first deputy chairman of the Cayman Islands branch of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) in May 2006 and was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee of AIMA Cayman in September 2008. Mark is also a member of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority's E-Reporting Working Group. Mark regularly speaks at private equity and hedge fund conferences. Speaking engagements include: speaking at the IBA/ABA Annual International Conference on Private Investment Funds (Side Letters – Best Practices) chairing/speaking at a combined Walkers/Decherts presentation in Cayman on The Responsibilities of Directors in the Light of Recent Hedge Fund Scandals and Side Letter Developments with Peter Astelford of Dechert and Guy Locke of Walkers chairing and speaking at FRA's Offshore Funds Structures, Compliance and Operations Summit in New York speaking at UBS' Prime Brokerage CFO/COO Conference in Phoenix, Arizona (Side Letters & Offshore Directors) speaking at combined Walkers/Cayman Islands Monetary Authority presentations in Chicago, New York, Connecticut and Boston in relation to amendments to Cayman's Hedge Funds legislation and the E-Audit and E-Reporting initiatives of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority speaking at FRA's Annual Hedge Fund Regulation & Compliance Forum (Offshore Regulation Update) Mark is also a Notary Public in the Cayman Islands.
