Trusts

Walkers' Global Trusts Group has substantial experience in acting for ultra high net worth individuals and their advisers as well as many of the leading international trustees and other financial institutions on the establishment, administration and termination of trusts. We advise on all forms of British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Jersey trusts, both private and commercial, and the associated regulatory requirements.

Our partners have played a leading role in the development of the trust laws in their jurisdictions. Christopher McKenzie was a member of the STEP committee the proposals of which led to the enactment of the BVI’s acclaimed VISTA trust legislation and other recent BVI trust law innovations, and chaired the STEP committee, the proposals of which were implemented by the BVI government in the recent regulations enabling private trust companies to operate in the BVI. Andrew Miller, as the former chairman of STEP in Cayman, played a key role in the recently enacted private trust company legislation and regulations in Cayman. They and other members of our Group are the authors of major works on trust and succession laws in their jurisdictions and regularly speak at international trust conferences.

Our Group also teams with Walkers’ Global Trusts Disputes Group which has been involved in many of the most substantial and complex international trust disputes.
