Giles Butcher

Giles Butcher is a senior counsel in Walkers' Jersey office and is a member of the Banking & Finance practice group.

Giles advises leading investment managers, lenders and other market participants on a broad range of asset classes in the banking and debt finance sector.

He has particular experience in advising on the offshore legal and regulatory aspects of complex securitisations and structured finance products, such as CLOs, residential mortgage-backed securitisations, private warehouse transactions, and credit risk transfers / significant risk transfers.

He is also experienced in acting on other more traditional corporate lending matters, including on leveraged finance, fund finance, and real estate finance deals.


Experience and recent work

Prior to joining Walkers, Giles worked in the Finance group at another leading offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands, and in the Banking and Finance team at Macfarlanes in London.

Before re-locating to Jersey in 2026, Giles has also worked in the Finance group at Walkers in the Cayman Islands since 2021.
