William Greensmyth is Head of Walkers’ Insolvency and Dispute Resolution (IDR) practice in Ireland where he advises domestic and international clients on complex restructuring and contentious legal matters.
William Greensmyth is widely recognised for his expertise in formal insolvency procedures, restructuring, and commercial litigation. His practice focuses particularly on advising:
- Financial institutions
- Private equity firms
- Creditors and investors
- Insolvency practitioners (including receivers, liquidators, and examiners)
He is regularly instructed on distressed debt situations, where he provides strategic advice on enforcement options, security realisation, and remedies. He has extensive experience acting both for lenders and insolvency office-holders across the lifecycle of corporate distress—from early restructuring through to liquidation/
As a litigator, he has been involved in a number of significant Commercial Court proceedings. His advocacy experience informs his approach to strategy in complex insolvency disputes.
William works with clients to navigate the challenges that arise in restructuring and insolvency situations, helping them assess risk, protect their position and progress claims within the relevant legal framework.
