Gareth Murphy

Gareth is a partner in the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dispute Resolution team in Walkers' Singapore office.

Gareth advises on litigation and insolvency proceedings, including high-value cross-border shareholder disputes, before the Cayman Islands Grand Court’s financial services division and the British Virgin Islands' Commercial Court. He regularly advises clients and onshore firms on offshore aspects of arbitration, including aspects of relevant offshore law, procedural issues and interim measures, as well as ultimately enforcement (or set aside) of arbitral awards in the relevant offshore jurisdiction.

Gareth’s clients include banks and financial institutions involved in debt recovery, asset tracing and enforcement matters. He has advised liquidators and receivers in relation to clawback and recovery, fraud and negligence claims, equitable receiver appointments and on interlocutory injunctive applications including springboard injunctions, freezing orders and disclosure orders. 

Gareth has also advised creditors, members and companies on creditor and member restructurings and schemes of arrangement relating to offshore companies.
