Introduction
Walkers is an international law and professional services firm headquartered in the Cayman Islands, providing legal and other professional services to global corporations, financial institutions, capital markets participants and investment fund managers.
This statement is published pursuant to section 54(1) of the United Kingdom Modern Slavery Act 2015 ("Act") on behalf of the 'Walkers group' ("Walkers Group") by Walkers Global LLP, a Cayman Islands limited liability partnership ("Walkers Global"), for the financial year ended 30 June 2025. Although the Act applies specifically to Walkers (Europe) which operates in the United Kingdom, the Walkers Group is committed to supporting the objectives of the Act on a global basis. Accordingly, this statement sets out our actions to understand, limit and address any potential or actual modern slavery risks related to our business and supply chain.
Group structure and business
Walkers operates as a global business through a number of separately constituted, but related, legal entities. Walkers Global designates the distinct partnerships and companies which advise, respectively, on the laws of the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Guernsey, Ireland and Jersey. The Walkers Group has offices in all six of these jurisdictions, as well as in Dubai, Hong Kong, London and Singapore.
In addition to the law firm business, the Walkers Group includes a professional services business predominantly held under Walkers Professional Services Limited, a Cayman Islands company which, through subsidiaries and related entities, provides corporate, fiduciary, regulatory reporting and anti money laundering services from the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Dubai, Hong Kong and Ireland to our clients.
Details about the entities which comprise the Walkers Group, including the regulation thereof, can be found in the Legal Notices section of our website.
Commitment to a supply chain that is free from modern slavery and human trafficking
The impact on the environments in which the Walkers Group operates goes far beyond delivering services. Our commitments, obligations, and responsibilities to colleagues, clients and to society are an important part of what makes us who we are. As a provider of legal and other professional services, we view the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain to be low. However, in line with our business principles, namely protecting our people and promoting ethical practices, we continue to take steps to understand, limit and address any risks of modern slavery or human trafficking within our business. The aim of our business principles is to maintain the same elevated standards in the conduct of our business relationships and the provision of our services as our clients expect from us, as we expect from our own suppliers and business partners.
Supply chain
The Walkers Group acquires goods and services from suppliers globally and is committed to supporting the objectives in the Act and any other applicable modern slavery laws and regulations. To achieve this, we continuously review our operations, internal controls and external relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure that they are not susceptible to modern slavery or human trafficking and are maintaining the same high standards and commitment that we expect. We have a Vendor Management Policy, in terms of which we perform a risk assessment before onboarding vendors, as well as additional due diligence requirements commensurate with any risks identified and periodic reassessments throughout the relationship. If we identify any links between a supplier and modern slavery and/or human trafficking, then we will insist on that supplier taking remedial steps, failing which, we will terminate the relationship.
Code of business conduct
The standards which the Walkers Group expects from its clients, staff, suppliers and the communities in which it operates are clearly set out in our Code of Business Conduct, which also sets out our aforementioned business principles. We expect our business partners (and their own supply chains) to commit to these principles throughout their working relationship with the Walkers Group and encourage them to raise any issues of concern with us.
Global policies and procedures
To mitigate against the risks of human trafficking and modern slavery and to promote an inclusive and ethical culture, the Walkers Group has a comprehensive suite of global policies which govern, among other things, our employment practices (including topics such as equal opportunity hiring and training, non discrimination, flexible and agile working arrangements and anti harassment and bullying) and anti bribery, anti corruption, anti money laundering and counter terrorist financing. We also have internal and external channels of communications whereby staff or clients may raise concerns regarding modern slavery, human trafficking or other risks, either through our Whistleblowing Policy (including access to an anonymous 'SpeakUp' platform) or through our Client Complaints Policy, respectively.
Internal training
Upon joining, all employees of the Walkers Group receive mandatory training on modern slavery, human trafficking, anti bribery, anti corruption, anti money laundering and counter terrorist financing, as well as periodically on any new relevant changes to the underlying legislation or our business or internal policies and procedures.
The Walkers Group intends to continue engaging with relevant stakeholders to raise awareness and provide training on the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains, and to enhance our supply chain management procedures and processes as required from time to time.
