Natalie, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins from Herbert Smith Freehills, where she led its financial services regulatory practice in Singapore and also worked in Hong Kong and Sydney. She brings more than 20 years' experience advising on contentious and non-contentious regulatory and compliance matters, such as anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regulation and compliance, fund management, economic substance, internal controls and corporate governance, data protection, cybersecurity, and the cross-border and local impact of regulatory change.
The addition of Natalie boosts an already strong team across Asia and Middle East, which includes counsel Marco Lam and senior associate Simone Burnett Lanauze in Singapore, counsel Jason Hung in Hong Kong, and senior counsel Louise Denman in Dubai. Walkers is unique in its peer group to offer dedicated regulatory lawyers in each of its 10 offices across the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, many of whom are former regulators.
Andy Randall, managing partner for Walkers in Hong Kong, comments: "Natalie brings a wealth of experience in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and a profound understanding of the various regulatory regimes and challenges in the financial services, funds, fintech and virtual asset industries across the region. Her experience and exceptional track record advising on regulatory matters further strengthens our Asia Regulatory & Risk Advisory practice."
Natalie Curtis adds: "I am excited to join a high calibre team who are committed to providing top-tier regulatory advice to our clients across jurisdictions and time zones. As the financial services and fintech sectors continue to rapidly evolve, we're well placed to help our clients in Asia navigate the regulatory landscape."
