Walkers’ Banking and Finance team has seen significant growth throughout 2024, with six new hires joining across Guernsey and Jersey this year. The team now comprises 3 partners in Guernsey, 4 partners in Jersey and 21 lawyers overall, making it one of the largest standalone Banking and Finance legal teams in the Channel Islands.
Head of the Channel Islands Banking and Finance team, Nigel Weston, said:
“As a dedicated Banking and Finance offshore team in the Channel Islands, I’m delighted that we’ve continued building out a truly exceptional team that provides market-leading advice to our clients across the globe and I’m excited to see what opportunities await us in 2025.”
Joining the partnership this year were Alex Wickens and James Lydeard. Alex joined Walkers in 2021 as a senior counsel in Guernsey and was promoted in July of this year, with James joining the firm’s Jersey office from another Channel Islands law firm in September. This follows a series of key senior associate and associate-level hires throughout the year, including senior associates Siavush Mokhtar and Neo Tshikalange, and associates Seyed Ahlesaadat and Seth Botes who joined the team in the latter half of this year.
Guernsey Banking and Finance partner Kim Paiva noted:
“The growth of the banking and finance team in both Guernsey and Jersey is indicative of the depth and breadth of the work that we do and the demand we’re seeing across the market, which despite an inflationary economic environment has remained steady throughout 2024."
Walkers is now one of the largest financial services law firms in the Channel Islands, with 28 partners and 84 lawyers practising across all major areas of financial services law in Guernsey and Jersey.
