We have advised on the launch of a new commercial aviation financing platform established by funds managed by AB CarVal and Investec.
The platform has been launched to provide secured, asset backed lending solutions to airlines and aviation leasing companies globally. It is expected to build a diversified portfolio of aviation loans, supporting fleet funding, liquidity and broader financing requirements across the sector. Under the structure, Investec will act as exclusive originator and loan servicer for the platform, co-investing alongside AB CarVal-managed funds.
We acted as Ireland and Cayman Islands counsel to AB CarVal and Investec on the establishment of the platform. Walkers Professional Servies will manage the platform on an ongoing basis.
The Irish law aspects of the transaction were led by Asset Finance partner Donna Ager, with support from associate Sophia Hitchcock. The Cayman Islands advice was provided by Asset Finance partner Sarah Humpleby, supported by associate Alexandra Franklin.
Commenting on the transaction, Donna Ager said:
'This was a complex, multi-jurisdictional platform launch that reflects the continued strength of the aviation finance market. It was a pleasure to work with AB CarVal and Investec on a structure that provides flexible and scalable financing solutions for airlines and lessors.'
Sarah Humpleby added:
'The Cayman Islands continues to play a key role in sophisticated aviation financing structures. This transaction highlights the value of coordinated offshore and onshore advice in delivering efficient outcomes for clients operating in the global aviation sector.'
This transaction further demonstrates our strength in complex, cross-border aviation finance structures and its ability to support leading sponsors, lenders and asset managers in the global aviation market.
