We have advised on the launch of Equator, a new aviation leasing investment platform established by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) in partnership with Blackstone Credit and Insurance (BXCI).
Equator is a long term investment programme focused on acquiring aircraft on lease to commercial airlines, with a target deployment of approximately US$1.6bn annually. The platform is designed to build a diversified portfolio of commercial aircraft, with assets sourced from third parties and managed by DAE’s Aircraft Investor Services group with capital from BXCI and funds managed by ITE Management, L.P., a strategic partner of BXCI.
We advised on the transaction through our Asset Finance teams in the Cayman Islands and Ireland, with lawyers from both offices working closely together to provide coordinated advice on the deal.
Our Cayman Islands team was led by partner Sarah Humpleby, working with associate Alexandra Franklin. Our Ireland team was led by partner Donna Ager, supported by associate Owen O'Hanrahan.
Sarah Humpleby, partner in our Cayman Islands Asset Finance team, said:
'This transaction was a strong example of how we work together across our offices to support complex asset finance matters. Collaborating closely with our Ireland colleagues allowed us to deliver seamless, joined up advice.'
Donna Ager, partner in our Ireland Asset Finance team, added:
'This deal highlights the value of cross office collaboration within our asset finance practice. By working closely with our Cayman team, we were able to support the successful launch of this aviation leasing platform in an efficient and practical way.'
