Marking a decade in Guernsey

Walkers is marking a decade in Guernsey, a milestone that reflects sustained growth, long-standing client relationships and our role within Walkers’ integrated European platform.

Since entering the Guernsey market in 2016, we have established a strong presence on the island. Today, our team comprises nearly 70 professionals, including 14 partners, working across our Banking & Finance, Investment Funds & Corporate, Insolvency & Dispute Resolution, Private Capital & Trusts, Employment and Regulatory teams.

Over the past decade, we have significantly expanded in both scale and capability, growing our number of staff by 180% as we have developed alongside our clients and the increasing complexity of cross-border structures involving Guernsey. This includes the recent formation of our Fintech and Regulatory practices, both seeing strong demand as clients navigate evolving market and regulatory landscapes.

Reflecting on the milestone, Matt Sanders, managing partner of our Guernsey office, said:

Our Guernsey office is a core part of our European platform, working closely with colleagues across Jersey, London and Dublin to deliver a coordinated approach to client service across key financial centres. This model has been central to our growth and our ability to support clients across multiple jurisdictions.

Alongside our legal work, we have built strong connections within the island community. This includes launching our Business Summer School in 2020, giving students practical insight into careers in financial services, and supporting local charitable initiatives.

This milestone forms part of a wider anniversary year for Walkers in Europe, as we also mark 25 years in the region and 20 years in Jersey.
