Sam regularly advises financial institutions, investment funds, insolvency practitioners, creditors, shareholders, directors and financial advisors. He advises on contentious and insolvency matters (often involving cross-border mandates) and is experienced in shareholder/limited partner disputes, as well as many forms of corporate restructuring (including advising on Cayman Islands law matters involved in US Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings). Sam also advises founders, directors, supervisors, token holders and insolvency practitioners in relation to Cayman Islands foundation companies, Fintech transactions including blockchain projects and digital assets.
Sam has appeared in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and represents clients before the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. He joined Walkers in January 2022.
Sam previously spent six years at Herbert Smith Freehills in Australia where he worked in the dispute resolution team. Whilst at Herbert Smith Freehills, Sam regularly advised financial institutions and listed companies in Australia, and across Asia, on a range of commercial litigation. Sam also assisted clients with obtaining court approvals of schemes of arrangement.
