Gary is a partner in Walkers' Insurance Group based in the Cayman Islands, specializing in insurance and reinsurance transactions and regulatory matters.
Gary advises insurers, reinsurers, asset managers and captive owners on a broad range of insurance and reinsurance matters. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions of insurance entities, legacy and run-off transactions, investment structures, cross-border reinsurance arrangements and insurance regulatory governance and compliance.
Gary acts for clients across both Cayman and Bermuda, assisting with the establishment, licensing and ongoing operation of captives, segregated cell companies, commercial reinsurers and other insurance or hybridized vehicles. He regularly advises on the convergence of insurance and capital markets, including insurance-linked securities and alternative risk transfer structures.
Experience and recent work
Gary's experience spans commercial and financial services law, regulatory compliance and corporate transactions. He has over 15 years' experience in private practice and senior in-house roles. Prior to joining Walkers, he served as General Counsel at a specialist casualty reinsurer and as Head of Legal and Compliance at one of the world's largest composite reinsurers, overseeing legal, governance and regulatory matters for a multibillion-dollar entity. He previously achieved partnership at an international law firm.
Gary has advised on high-value M&A transactions, investment structures and complex reinsurance arrangements throughout his career, working with insurers, reinsurers and asset managers on both transactional and regulatory matters.
