Karen O'Connell is based in Walkers' Ireland office where she is an associate in the firm's Finance & Capital Markets group
Karen's main practice areas are structured finance, securitisation, capital markets and general finance matters.
In particular, Karen advises on Irish and EU legal and regulatory aspects of the establishment, financing, operation and management of Irish special purpose vehicles and other investment vehicles which acquire a broad range of asset classes (including loans, mortgages, receivables, distressed assets and insurance-linked securities).
Karen's experience includes acting as issuer counsel on collateralised loan obligations (CLOs) and other asset-backed securitisations involving Irish SPVs.

Experience and recent work
Prior to joining Walkers, Karen trained in a leading Irish law firm where she had a particular focus on finance and worked for various financial institutions and corporate borrowers on all aspects of corporate lending.
