Cate Barbour is a senior associate based in our BVI office, having spent time in both the Cayman Islands and in London. She joined Walkers in 2015 and is a member of the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Group. Cate has broad commercial litigation experience, having advised corporate, government and institutional clients on a wide range of disputes. She specialises in insolvency and restructuring and has advised debtors, existing stakeholders and creditors and insolvency practitioners in a number of multi-jurisdictional and complex contentious insolvencies. She regularly acts for clients based in the CIS, in particular Russia, and Ukraine, as well as in Africa and the Middle East, with particular knowledge of insolvencies involving financial institutions in a multitude of jurisdictions.
Prior to joining Walkers, Cate worked in the commercial litigation department of Trowers & Hamlins LLP in London and the Middle East.
