Practice Areas

Caroline Heal has over 18 years' experience and is based in Walkers' Cayman Islands office where she is a partner in the firm's Global Investment Funds Group. She has extensive experience in the structuring, formation and continuing operation of hedge funds, including restructurings and fund terminations. Caroline also advises on the formation and ongoing operation of private equity funds, co-investment vehicles and alternative investment vehicles and related private equity acquisition and disposal transactions and associated structures as well as general corporate matters. Caroline advises and works with globally recognised investment managers and major private equity sponsors as well as a range of specialist asset managers.

Caroline is a part of the FinTech team at Walkers and advises FinTech businesses on projects associated with blockchain, digital assets and a range of related activities, including the establishment of cryptocurrency funds.

She is also chair of the firm's Trainee Committee in Cayman and is responsible for the training programmes of the Articled Clerks, the Walkers Legal Internship held each summer and the continued mentoring of the Walkers Legal Scholarship recipients throughout the course of their law degrees.

Prior to joining Walkers, Caroline practised in the Corporate Department at Eversheds (now Eversheds Sutherland) in London where she advised on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance transactions and other general commercial and corporate matters.

During 2004, Caroline was seconded for eight months to Henderson Global Investors where she worked on the launch and refinancing of international property funds. Caroline was also seconded to Eversheds' Copenhagen office, to assist with a joint venture between Scandinavian and Russian international companies for the provision of financial services.

2018 Cayman Islands Commonwealth Games Squash Team. Caroline also won a Gold Medal in women's squash singles at the 2011 Islands Games, was previously world ranked in squash and played for England as a junior.

Caroline is a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society and is a notary public in the Cayman Islands.
