Practice Areas

Matt Hedigan is a partner in Walkers Asset and Aviation Finance Group, specialising in all aspects of the financing and leasing of aviation assets. Matt advises private equity investors, operating lessors, financial institutions and airlines on a wide range of tax-efficient leasing and financing structures including platform establishments, warehouse financings, joint ventures and transportation business acquisitions disposals. In addition, Matt has a strong structured finance background with particular emphasis on cross-border debt capital markets transactions, including aircraft securitisations and loan portfolio financings, acquisitions and restructurings. He regularly advises on Irish and European Union financial services and securities law including the Prospectus Directive, EMIR, AIFMD, MiFID, Market Abuse and the Securitisation Regulation.

Matt also specialises in advising clients on derivative and securities lending transactions being entered into by a wide range of Irish entities utilising industry standard documentation such as ISDAs and GMRAs.

Prior to joining Walkers, Matt worked as a senior associate in the finance team of a large corporate law firm in Dublin and also previously completed a secondment with Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
