Tom Hagger is a senior associate in the Firm's Investment Funds and Corporate Groups. Tom joined the Cayman Islands office in 2017 and relocated to the Dubai office in 2021.He advises asset managers and financial institutions, and their onshore counsel, in relation to a wide range of corporate and partnership issues with a particular focus on private equity funds, hedge funds and venture capital funds. He also has experience advising clients on the formation and listing of special purpose acquisition vehicles and advising on issues relating to the subsequent business combination transactions.He was a founding member of the Walkers FinTech group and regularly advises clients on a wide range of FinTech matters including advising on the establishment and maintenance of Cayman Islands foundation companies to assist with the oversight and development of blockchain protocols, advising on investments into early and late stage FinTech businesses and on the establishment and launch of crypto and blockchain funds.
Prior to joining Walkers in 2017, Tom worked in the Financial Services and Markets Department at Travers Smith in London. He specialised in advising alternative fund managers on all aspects of UK and EU regulation with a particular focus on AIFMD.
