Niall Esler joined Walkers' Dublin office in 2018 where he is a Partner in the Regulatory Group. Niall specialises in Irish and EU financial services regulation, as well has having significant commodities regulatory experience.

Niall advises domestic and international credit institutions, investment firms, payment/e-money institutions, asset managers, funds and other institutions. Niall's areas of focus include CRD, MiFID II, PSD, E-Money, AML, MAR, REMIT, domestic regulatory regimes and consumer protection requirements, including Central Bank of Ireland codes and requirements.

Niall has advised in relation to investment firm and credit institution establishment in Ireland, implementation of regulatory change projects or remediation exercises, financial institution or utility company M&A, regulated asset (e.g. loan book) sale transactions, wind down of regulated business and clients facing Central Bank of Ireland or ECB regulatory authority inspections, themed reviews, RMPs and administrative sanctions procedures.

Prior to joining Walkers, Niall worked as an associate in Arthur Cox, Dublin where he was based for nine years, including apprenticeship, as a member of the Financial Regulatory and Energy Regulatory Groups.
