Matthew Cowman

Matthew is the Managing Partner of our BVI office

Matt specialises in advising clients on complex corporate matters and finance matters. He regularly advises major international banks and corporate borrowers in banking and finance transactions, including acquisition finance, real estate finance and general corporate finance. He also acts for major public and private clients in a range of corporate transactions, such as joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganisations, including the largest ever take-private of a listed BVI company. His clients value his care and responsiveness.

Experience and recent work

Before joining Walkers, Matthew worked in the Banking and Finance departments at SJ Berwin in London and at Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Australia.  

He also has extensive in-house experience from working as Deputy General Counsel (Australia and New Zealand) at GE Capital and as General Manager, Group Legal and Governance at Australian Unity.
