Joseph Barker-Willis joined Walkers' Jersey office in 2019 where he is a Senior Associate in the Investment Funds and Corporate Practice Group.
He specialises in investment funds and private equity and advises on a variety of investment fund structures.
Joseph has more than five years' experience working offshore, with particular experience in the establishment and operation of investment funds under the Jersey Private Fund and Jersey Expert Fund regimes.
He acted on one of the first Jersey Private Funds to be established upon the introduction of the new regime, and the first Initial Coin Offering in Jersey.
Joseph is also a member of Jersey’s Digital Assets Working Group, working with government, the JFSC, Jersey Finance and industry in response to the opportunities and challenges posed by fintech and digital assets in Jersey.
Prior to joining Walkers, Joseph qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales with DWF LLP, also having undertaken a secondment to the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg.Joseph previously worked in the investment funds and corporate department of another market leading offshore law firm in Jersey and is an alumnus of University College, Durham and the University of Law.
