Jennifer Maughan joined Walkers in 2020 as a Senior Counsel in the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution (IDR) team in London, having spent the last decade in Hong Kong advising clients based in Hong Kong, the Peoples' Republic of China and South East Asia on contentious and non-contentious matters involvling Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law. Jennifer's practice focusses on complex, high value commercial litigation as well as contentious insolvency and restructuring, often with a cross border element.

Jennifer has acted on a variety of matters including contentious valuation disputes, fund and shareholder disputes, trust disputes and asset tracing, and contentious and non-contentious insolvency and restructuring matters. Jennifer provides strategic and commercial legal advice to clients in contentious situations, regularly advising insolvency practitioners, private equity funds, hedge funds, investment banks, high net worth individuals, debtor companies, directors and officers, and investors and shareholders. Jennifer is also experienced in seeking urgent interim relief before the courts of the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands in support of both domestic and foreign litigations and arbitrations, including urgent injunctive relief and disclosure orders. She has also advised on a number of matters involving the appointment of provisional liquidators, either as part of soft-touch restructurings or in delicate and highly contentious insolvency matters.

Prior to joining Walkers, Jennifer trained with Herbert Smith in London before moving to Hong Kong in 2010 and joining Allen & Overy's dispute resolution practice where she was involved in financial services disputes and oil and gas arbitrations. Jennifer moved offshore in 2012, joining two leading offshore litigation practices in Asia before relocating to London with Walkers in 2020.
