Nicholas Howard is a senior counsel in the Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Group at Walkers in Bermuda. He advises clients and appears before Bermuda courts and tribunals on cross-border commercial, employment and regulatory matters. He has represented clients in private and public disputes including regulatory applications and winding up petitions, corporate governance and shareholders disputes and judicial reviews. He regularly appears in arbitrations and mediations and undertakes negotiations on behalf of employers and employees. Nick also assists with sensitive independent investigations in employment and regulatory matters.In addition to contentious matters, Nick regularly assists new entrants to Bermuda with complex immigration issues, cross-border employment structures and intra-group services arrangements, in addition to general advice on employment regulations and practices that are consistent with ESG principles.
Nicholas joined Walkers in 2020 from the Department of Justice in Canada where he advised and represented the Government of Canada on high value commercial disputes, particularly in defence procurement. Nicholas also advised on other contentious regulatory and employment matters, including privacy, economic and national security and intellectual property.
Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Nicholas served as legal clerk for judges of the Federal Court of Canada in 2015 and 2016.
