Tara Rivers

Tara Rivers is a Director at Walkers Professional Services ("WPS").

She provides fiduciary services to financing and leasing companies, investment managers and private equity vehicles. Tara also acts for a broad and sophisticated portfolio of fintech clients, including many of the most forward-thinking protocol foundations and decentralised autonomous organisations in the digital asset ecosystem supporting layer 1 and layer 2 blockchain protocols, metaverse platforms, digital payment networks and innovative Web3 infrastructure projects.

Tara is a lawyer qualified to practise in multiple preeminent jurisdictions. She plays a key role in driving commercial initiatives for WPS, bolstering relationships with business partners and intermediaries both domestically and internationally.

Experience and recent work

Tara served as a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister in the Cayman Islands Government for eight years prior to joining WPS. As Minister of Financial Services, Tara introduced pivotal financial services legislation, including the International Tax Co-operation (Economic Substance) Act, Private Funds Act and the Virtual Asset (Service Providers) Act. As an MP and Minister, Tara frequently engaged with UK, EU, regional and Commonwealth parliamentarians, and with Members of the U.S. Congress on key financial services matters.

Prior to her political career, Tara practiced as a finance and corporate lawyer at a leading law firm and as a structured finance lawyer at Allen & Overy LLP in London, UK.
