John McSweeney joined Walkers in 2022 where he is a Senior Counsel in the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution Group in the Bermuda office.
John advises clients across a wide range of industry sectors on complex and high value litigation, with a focus on commercial disputes, insolvency and restructuring and contentious trust matters. He has extensive litigation experience, including in enforcement actions, applications for injunctive relief and shareholder disputes. John also regularly advises on contentious insolvency matters, including disputed winding up petitions and costs related issues.

Prior to joining Walkers, John worked in the Dispute Resolution department of an international offshore firm in Bermuda.

Wong v Grand View PTC Limited et al [2022] SC (Bda) 44 Com – acted successfully for defendant in long running US$ 16 billion plus trust dispute which went to a 5 month virtual trial in 2021
Griffin Line General Trading LLC v Centaur Ventures Ltd [2020] Bda LR 43 – acted for plaintiff in obtaining and then successfully defending attempted set-aside of freezing injunction in $100 million loan claim
Wong v Grand View PTC and Ors (Ruling on Specific Discovery) [2020] Bda LR 45 – acted for defendant in significant interlocutory application clarifying discovery duties in Bermuda
Re Titan Petrochemicals Group Ltd [2022] CA (Bda) 13 Civ – acted for the petitioning creditor at trial and on appeal by company in a disputed debt case
