Walkers Acts on Inaugural GAEL Fund

Walkers has acted as Cayman Islands and Ireland counsel to an undisclosed bank in relation to its involvement in the financing of SMBC Aviation Capital's inaugural Global Aviation Equipment Leasing (GAEL) fund formation and launch.

GAEL has raised equity capital from 17 Japanese institutional investors which marks the lessor’s inaugural aviation equity fund for Japanese institutional investors. GAEL will acquire a portfolio of aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital who will service the portfolio which are on lease to a diverse group of international airlines.

Walkers Cayman Islands was led by partner James Burch along with senior counsels Sarah Humpleby and Richard Williams. Walkers Ireland was led by of counsel Killian McSharry along with senior associate Michael Caulfield. Walkers was instructed by Milbank's London office.
