Walkers acts as Bermuda Counsel on Mergon Group Acquisition

Walkers is pleased to have acted as Bermuda counsel to Elysian Capital on its investment in Ireland-based plastics moulding business Mergon Group ("Mergon"). Walkers also advised on Elysian Capital's bank financing for the acquisition.

Mergon, founded in 1981 in Castlepollard, Ireland, has, over nearly forty years of business, grown to become a global specialist provider of technical services, systems and components to leading brands in the automotive, industrial and healthcare sectors. Mergon employs 660 people globally, almost half of whom are in Castlepollard. It also has facilities in South Carolina in the United States, and in the Czech Republic.

Elysian Capital is a well-established UK-based private equity firm, investing in entrepreneurial management teams throughout the UK and Ireland. Elysian’s investment will enable Mergon to embark on an ambitious expansion of 50% growth in the next three years, particularly in the automotive sector in China.

Walkers' Bermuda office was instructed by onshore law firms Addleshaw Goddard LLP, in relation to the acquisition, and A&L Goodbody, in relation to the bank financing. The Walkers team was led by Bermuda partner Jonathan Betts with assistance from senior associate Rachel Nightingale and associate Korin Knights, with support on the bank financing led by senior associate Nathalie West.
