Walkers acts as Cayman Islands Counsel on Waystone Exit from MML

Walkers is pleased to announce that it acted as Cayman Islands counsel to a prominent sell-side investor in Waystone in the recent MML disposal.

Described by MML "as one of its most successful ever investments", the transaction, previously reported at a value of US$1.3 billion, returns 100% of the committed capital in MML Fund VI in a single deal. MML reports it has delivered 11x return.

In 2019, Walkers acted as Cayman Islands counsel to DMS on the original deal in which MML took a 50% stake of the business. In early 2021, DMS, MontLake and MDO came together, along with previous MML acquisitions, to form Waystone.

The Walkers team was led by partners Ingrid Pierce and Jason Allison with assistance from associate Sam Francis. Walkers worked alongside Clifford Chance LLP, London led by partner Nick Spurrell.
