Welcome to Walkers' first Global D&I newsletter.

Diversity and inclusion is a central part of our culture at Walkers and our strategic vision for the future. Our diversity ensures that we have a strong global community and that we are well positioned to employ practical solutions for our clients and to solve complex matters. We view diversity and inclusion as a business imperative, and are keen to engage with our clients to drive the diversity and inclusion agenda within our firm and across the wider legal community. Diverse teams assist in giving us greater and deeper insight into client needs, and lead to better performance. Our global firm is led by Global Managing Partner Ingrid Pierce and our senior management team is equally balanced with the gender split being almost 50:50. We employ 1,022 people in 10 locations across Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East and we are very proud that this workforce is made up of employees from over 51 different nationalities.

Our Diversity and inclusion agenda is championed at the highest level by our Global Managing Partner and our Global Management Committee. Reporting into the Global MC is a Global D&I Committee with senior partner representation from across our 10 offices. The Global D&I Committee is tasked with driving forward the firm’s inclusion and diversity strategy and monitors progress through regular meetings and leadership accountability. We are proactively cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment through leadership training and accountability, policies and practices as well as client and community outreach. Our D&I programme in Walkers ensures that our seven local office D&I Committees are also empowered to collaborate on and contribute to the firm’s global D&I agenda. Across our 10 offices, we have over 70 D&I Committee volunteers committed to progressing our diversity and inclusion agenda. We also recognise that we have a responsibility to each other as colleagues to foster a culture in our global offices that values and celebrates our differences and individuality. The best people care about inclusivity and at Walkers, we do too.
