Walkers hosts AML briefing with Brendan Nagle, Department of Finance

Walkers hosted a breakfast briefing on 24 October 2017, providing an overview of key upcoming anti-money laundering/counter-terrorist financing ("AML/CFT") developments and the potential impact of these developments on firms, including:


  • the implications for industry following recent publication of the Financial Action Task Force ("FATF") assessment of Ireland's AML/CFT regime;
  • the challenges posed by the upcoming domestic transposition of the 4th and 5th Money Laundering Directives ("4MLD/5MLD");
  • the establishment of central registers of beneficial ownership;
  • the supervisory role of competent authorities such as the Central Bank of Ireland ("CBI"); and
  • the future status and content of industry guidance.
