Walkers wins 5 Finance Dublin Deals of the Year awards 2018

Walkers is delighted to announce that it has won 5 Finance Dublin Deals of the Year Awards. The annual awards acknowledge excellence across five broad categories within the financial services sector in Ireland. We set out below our winning awards, in addition to commentary from each of the lead partners:

1. Financial Services: Insurance - Covéa Cat Bond (€90 million)
"Ireland remains the primary ILS domicile in Europe for European sponsors although we have seen increased competition from the UK and Malta. We were pleased that Covéa chose Ireland as the domicile for its first ILS issuer and we were delighted to have advised on this novel transaction." - Garry Ferguson, Managing Partner, Finance & Capital Markets.

2. Aviation Finance: Joint Venture - Einn Volant Aircraft Leasing / CDPQ ($2 billion)
"Ireland remains one of the primary jurisdictions for Aviation financing and leasing with continued investment from a wide investor base. This transaction is not only significant in terms of its $2bn scale but also providing an entry point for CDPQ into the high growth Aviation financing and leasing sector." - Ken Rush, Partner & Head of Aviation Finance.

3. Debt Capital Markets: Hybrid Securitisation - Red 1 CLO: UK CRE Loan Securitisation (£916 million)
"Ireland continues to be one of the leading centres of excellence and issuer domiciles for European securitisations and significant risk transfer transactions. We were delighted to have advised Santander across multiple jurisdictions on this complex transaction which was one of the first post financial crisis synthetics of UK CRE assets." - Andrew Traynor, Partner, Finance & Capital Markets.

4. Debt Capital Markets: ABS - Topaz Securitisations (€73 million)
"We continue to see increased appetite for Irish asset backed securitisations in the market. We were delighted to advise Macquarie Bank as arranger and lead manager on Bluestone's highly successful Topaz platform - this being their fourth securitisation of Irish auto and equipment finance receivables in less than two years." - Andrew Traynor, Partner, Finance & Capital Markets.

5. Aviation Finance: Financing Platform - Airborne Capital Limited
"Ireland remains one of the key Aviation capitals with a varied investor base taking positions in the sector in partnership with the Irish Aviation industry as demonstrated by this strategic investment by FEXCO along with the Airborne team." - Brendan O'Brien, Head of Corporate.
