Walkers to Sponsor Jersey Junior Lawyers Association 2019 Event

Walkers is proud to sponsor the Jersey Junior Lawyers Association (“JJLA”) 2019 educational event which is to be held on Thursday 7 March, at the Jersey Museum, at the Weighbridge.

Walkers has supported the JJLA since it was established in 2015, has two lawyers on the committee and is committed to backing the association and its aims. Jonathan Heaney, Managing Partner at Walkers, said: “Walkers are delighted to support the JJLA and sponsor this event and we hope to see many young professionals in attendance. We encourage our junior lawyers to become members of the JJLA as it is a great opportunity for networking, as well as educational development”.

This year’s educational event is headlined by Senator Ian Gorst, who will be discussing Brexit and its impact for Jersey, with further talks given by Lisa Springate (Head of Technical at Jersey Finance) and Julian Lamb (Deputy Registrar/Director, Jersey Registry).

Whilst JJLA events are usually held exclusively for members, given Walkers’ sponsorship of this event and the high profile speakers, the JJLA committee are delighted to extend invites to the educational event to other professionals.

Membership of the JJLA is open to Jersey student lawyers, trainee lawyers and those with up to four years’ post-qualification experience. Feedback from the market is that the association and the events they host are hugely valued by JJLA members, with NQs who have recently moved to the island finding the networking opportunities it provides particularly beneficial.

In addition to the upcoming educational event, JJLA members can also look forward to another exciting JJLA event later this month with the association hosting a black tie ball on Friday 15 March.
