Walkers recognised by STEP for commitment to training and skills

Walkers has been granted accreditation by STEP as an "Employer Partner" for its commitment to training, professional skills and career development in its global Private Capital and Trusts Practice Group.

The accreditation recognises the firm's support of the skills of team members and follows a rigorous application and review process.

Partner Rupert Morris, who leads Walkers' Guernsey Private Capital and Trusts Group, and who also sits on the STEP Worldwide Council, said: "We are delighted to have been accredited across all ten of our international offices in Asia, the Caribbean and Europe as a STEP Employer Partner.

"STEP is the global watermark for professional skills in the area of family inheritance, and with succession planning forming such a significant element of our work in the global Private Capital and Trusts Group, this accreditation demonstrates our commitment to client service and to technical excellence in an area that is right at the heart of our work."

Walkers Private Capital and Trusts Group is based in the firm's BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey offices, but works closely on private capital/trusts matters with colleagues in and clients of the firm's offices in Bermuda, Dubai, Dublin, Hong Kong, London and Singapore.

The Employer Partnership Programme accreditation requires that firms have a clear Learning & Development policy that outlines provisions and expectations, that employees are guided throughout the study process and both financial and time support are provided for study.

STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. STEP works to improve public understanding of the issues families face in this area and promotes education and high professional standards among its members. STEP members help families plan for their futures, from drafting wills to issues surrounding international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving. Full STEP members, known as TEPs, are internationally recognised as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience.
