Walkers Celebrates Record 72 Lawyer Rankings in Chambers Global Guide 2022

Walkers has maintained its preeminent position as the go-to offshore law firm in the 2022 Chambers and Partners Global Guide.

Walkers is celebrating a record year as 72 of its lawyers have been included in the guide, representing an 18% uplift from 2021. Walkers also has a market-leading 25 practice teams ranked, another best for the firm, with the addition this year of Jersey's Dispute Resolution and Investment Funds practices. This achievement highlights Walkers' strength and breadth within the 10 locations it operates across the Americas, Asia and EMEA.

Market Leading Results

Walkers' leads its competition with 10 "Band 1" practice area rankings and has attained an overall "Band 1" ranking in 'Global Offshore'. The firm also has 11 "Band 1" ranked lawyers, more than any other offshore law firm and, when added to another 12 lawyers ranked in "Band 2", this equates to 32% of its ranked colleagues appearing in the top two echelons of legal directory rankings.

These rankings come soon after Walkers' global Fintech group and Asia Pacific offices (Hong Kong and Singapore) were also awarded Band 1 rankings by Chambers and Partners for offshore legal services in their Fintech and Asia Pacific Guides, published late 2021.

Chambers Global Guide applauded Walkers for its depth of expertise in international offshore transactional work. In the review, one client commented: "They have excellent communication between their worldwide offices and good cooperation." Another adds: "The lawyers are very commercially aware and have useful practical insights in relation to the approach of the judges in the various offshore jurisdictions where they practise."

Country Review

In the Cayman Islands, Walkers once again retained its "Band 1" rankings for its three cornerstone practices: Finance & Corporate, Insolvency & Dispute Resolution and Investment Funds.

One client testimonial detailed: "Their client service and around-the-clock responsiveness was excellent, as was their creative and commercial approach to deals. They were able to quickly problem-solve, identify the most critical issues and help get the deal over the line."

Another commentator added: "The team at Walkers is impressive, and I think it has three areas that differentiate it: breadth of industry knowledge, responsiveness and technology integration."

One source said: "There is a personal touch associated with Walkers. When I think of them, I think of the people and the relationships I have built," emphasising that the firm is a go-to for "nuanced and complex matters that are particularly time-sensitive."

In the British Virgin Islands, Walkers' Insolvency & Dispute Resolution team upheld its "Band 1" ranking, with clients saying: "Walkers has very strong partners" and the team provides "great communications" on the progress of its cases.

Walkers' Asia-Pacific offices of Hong Kong and Singapore also retained their "Band 1" rankings, with one client noting: "All the Walkers lawyers we deal with in Asia are very practical and pragmatic about the investment fund world. They respond quickly, thoughtfully, accurately and clearly on all the matters we handle with them."

In Ireland, Walkers' Capital Markets: Debt practice retained its "Band 1" ranking and Chambers notes:

"Walkers is an elite law firm with a widely respected asset finance practice in Dublin. The team acts for lessors, airlines and financial investors on an array of high-value leasing, acquisition and securitisation mandates. Walkers also maintains a highly regarded Debt Capital Markets and structured finance offering, with particular expertise in securitisation transactions, and often assists clients with note issuances and CLO transactions."

The London office similarly retained its "Band 1" rankings for both British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands Law and had five lawyers ranked.

Finally, in the United Arab Emirates, Walkers' Dubai office retained its "Band 1" ranking for offshore law, with commentators noting that: "[The team is] dedicated, driven and responsive," and further adding: "They go beyond what many offshore law firms do in terms of turnaround and proactive deal management."

Commenting on the rankings, Walkers' Global Managing Partner, Ingrid Pierce, said: "This endorsement of our 72 ranked lawyers and 25 practice teams highlights our relationships with our clients and our lawyers' commitment to delivering real world commercial advice, with the right teams in place across our 10 global offices to deal with every conceivable scenario. We are grateful to our clients for this recognition of our commitment to excellence in client service delivery and of our strong global and local market capabilities."
