Advising Resolution Life on strategic Asian reinsurance transactions in Hong Kong and Japan

Resolution Life, a global life insurance group focusing on reinsurance and acquisition and management of portfolios of life insurance policies, closed on three separate transactions in Asia, utilising Resolution Re (Resolution Life's Bermuda reinsurance platform) as the transaction vehicle and reinsurer, covering policies in Hong Kong and Japan.

Resolution Life closed two block reinsurance transactions with two separate Hong Kong based life insurers, which cover participating whole of life products, transferring market, policyholder behaviour and mortality risk to Resolution Life. Additionally, Resolution Life closed on a flow reinsurance treaty with a Japanese life insurer, strengthening its position in the life reinsurance market.

Our Bermuda Finance and Insurance teams acted as Bermuda counsel to Resolution Life, alongside teams from Linklaters and Debevoise in Asia and the UK respectively.
