The deal was completed as part of the group's broader US$2.5bn financing programme, funding its operations across a range of strategic sectors, including cement, fertiliser, petrochemicals, refining, sugar and infrastructure.
The transaction underlines the growing maturity of Africa's private capital markets and the role private placements are playing in helping leading corporates access long-term capital. As international investors continue to seek exposure to high-quality issuers across the continent, these structures remain an important mechanism for supporting investment and growth.
We've assisted on all Cayman Islands law aspects of the transaction, alongside Clifford Chance who has acted as lead international counsel to the Dangote Group.
Our team was led by Dubai partner Ciaran Bohnacker and senior counsel Szymon Durlo.
Ciaran Bohnacker commented: 'We were delighted to advise the Dangote Group on this important financing. The transaction forms part of a broader funding programme that demonstrates the group's continued access to international capital and supports its long-term growth objectives. We are pleased to have worked alongside Clifford Chance and the Dangote Group on another significant deal.'
Szymon Durlo added: 'Africa continues to be an increasingly important destination for international private capital, with sophisticated corporates demonstrating a growing ability to access bespoke financing solutions through the global capital markets. Transactions of this nature highlight the continued evolution of financing structures supporting the continent’s long-term industrial and economic development.'
