Practice Areas

Brett specialises in providing multi-disciplinary advice to fiduciaries and other officeholders and appointees as well as corporate entities including strata corporations, government and institutional clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters. His advisory practice also encompasses intellectual property-related matters. As an advocate Brett has appeared before numerous statutory boards and tribunals, the Summary Court, the specialist Civil, Criminal and Financial Services Divisions of the Grand Court, and the Court of Appeal of the Cayman Islands.

Brett is regularly involved in legislative review and consultation with the Cayman Islands Government, with particular interests in intellectual property, data protection, cyber security and technology operations. 

Prior to joining Walkers, Brett worked in the litigation and insolvency practice of another eminent Cayman Islands-based law firm for six years.

Brett is the author of the 5th Edition of the Small Claims Handbook on Summary Court procedure, published by the Ombudsman's Office, the foreword for which was provided by the Chief Justice of the Cayman Islands.

Brett currently sits on the IXP Advisory Board of SALT Wireless Ltd, the sole Internet Exchange Point (IXP) licensee for the Cayman Islands.

Brett was appointed as a Notary Public of the Cayman Islands in 2016.

Brett is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA), the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA), International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL International) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
