Kevin Taylor is the Managing Partner* of Walkers' Bermuda office and is the Head of the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution practice.
He is based in Bermuda where he leads a team of lawyers providing advice on all aspects of Bermuda law with particular emphasis on matters of corporate and international finance law, mergers and acquisitions, insurance, investments funds, fintech and regulatory matters.
Kevin specialises in commercial disputes, particularly contentious liquidation proceedings, receiverships, issues related to corporate governance, shareholder disputes and high value asset recovery. He advises liquidators and a broad range of creditors in complex cross-border liquidations, particularly in respect of Asia and the USA. As part of his insolvency practice, he also acts for distressed companies and provides advice to boards of directors seeking to obtain court protection to permit corporate restructuring including by way of formal scheme of arrangement.
He also represents financial institutions, shareholders, companies, directors, brokerage firms, investment advisors and high net worth individuals in commercial litigation. His matters have included issues of breach of directors' fiduciary duty, breach of contract, economic torts, enforcements of judgments and arbitration awards, anti-suit injunctions to restrain foreign proceedings and arbitrations, freezing injunctions, duties of confidentiality and misselling claims.
In addition, Kevin has acted extensively in high value employment matters, often representing C-Suite executives in Bermuda's insurance industry. He has particular expertise in advising upon separation, including issues surrounding compensation, executive incentive plans, non-solicitation and restrictive covenants.
Kevin has made numerous appearances before the Supreme Court of Bermuda, Court of Appeal for Bermuda and has appeared in the Privy Council.
